Gold Beach experiences pleasant average temperatures of 65-75 during
the summer months, and during the winter months the average temperature
is 45-55. Perfect for fishing and sightseeing!!
The community of Gold Beach was originally named Ellensburg in the 1850s,
but later took the name Gold Beach after a beach area near the mouth of
the Rogue River... where hundreds of placer mines had extracted gold.
Be sure to drive up Jerry's Flat road to the little historic town of Agness to
learn more about the 1800's along the coast of Oregon.
Historic Mailboats based in Gold Beach have been delivering mail upstream to Agness since 1895, and are one of only two rural mailboat routes remaining
in the U.S. Mailboats was recently purchased by Jerry’s Jet Boats and continues the Mailboat legacy. Make sure you make your reservations on one of the Mail Boats or Jerry's Jets... it's a river trip you will not soon forget!
